What’s been going on and what’s to come….
May 21, 2026It is May of 2026, and I keep busy doing paintings and carvings that will become limited
bronze editions. Two new bronzes have appeared from that. One is THE NEST a 5 inch
diameter nest carved in maple burlwood with 3 golden eggs settled into it. The other is a
piece of the times, being THE SURVIVORS-FUNGI & MOLLUSK. This is a 6 inch, dynamic
mushroom with a gilded golden snail crawling across the top of it.
I opted to do this piece as a representative work of the dangers of this time for human rights
and the survival of the species! We have fools running and ruining many countries, waging wars
for greed and dominance without regard for humanity or the planet.
I have had an opportunity to be part of WATER WAYS: Healing the Circle of Water and Life, at
the Schack Art Center in Everett, Washington. Soon the Museum of Northwest Art will be
having their Sapphire Auction in which I have my 24-inch diameter bronze SWANSONG, a
mother and cygnet swan cuddling together. I continue to have sculptures at The San Juan
Island Sculpture Park, as well as work in the front yard of The Depot Center here in
Anacortes, Washington.
I will be continuing to create paintings for a show with the Scott Milo Gallery here in Anacortes
In September, I will also have a painting at this year’s Anacortes Arts Festival in August.
It is an exciting year once again, and I anticipate a couple of other shows that will include my
work, as I am awaiting to hear from them as to my submitted work to their juries of art
selections.
I like to donate works to several local organizations for Land Trust and Forest Preservation
and once again this year I donated work to our Island Hospital Gala of Hope and here I
include a statement from them:
“Leo Osborne has been a longtime friend and supporter of Island Health Foundation, generously
donating his artwork to the hospital and Gala of Hope for many years. His pieces—especially his
acrylic gold leaf paintings—have become a highlight and one of my favorite parts of the gala each
year. Leo’s talent across many mediums, from bronze sculpture to painting, brings a unique energy
and creativity to everything he creates. Beyond the art itself, his generosity and willingness to give
back have made a real impact on our hospital and the community we are lucky enough to call home.
Leo has become a great friend and someone I deeply appreciate—when you talk to Leo, you feel at
peace.”
Thank you for all you do, Leo. Our community is lucky to have you!
